Welcome to Park View Project
'Bridging the Digital Divide across North Tyneside'

Park View Project are witnessing the growing number of older, disabled, unemployed and those not in education or work, who are unable to ‘take control’ over access to essential local services and support because they are not ‘online’. Many will remember how access to support and help was conducted face-to face. This is rapidly being replaced by an online presence. Consequently, we are encountering individuals who are confused, frustrated and worried about remaining 'independent at home'. This situation threatens their quality of life. Park View Project is aware that Digital Exclusion and Social Exclusion can lead to dependence. To address these issues and to, importantly, raise awareness we will offer the following support: -
-
Online & social media workshops – informal and friendly group sessions where you can learn and gain new skills using the internet. Discover how to connect with others & be safe online. We currently run weekly workshops at Shiremoor Centre, Earsdon Road, Shiremoor.
-
Opportunities to get involved in some of our ongoing projects – a chance to use your new skills and meet new people.
-
Get involved in our steering groups such as Website Development Group, Digital First Aid Planning Group. We also keen to ensure our management committee is run by the community for the community.
Digital Inclusion equals Social Inclusion because we are getting you 'Online to Offline Community Activities'
Our mission Statement:
Provide online community-based help to address the ‘hidden disability’ arising from online challenges that undermine social & economic independence of those experiencing digital poverty or who lack the basic skills to maximise their online presence.
This applies to all regardless of age or ability who, in the face of a rapid escalation in digital communication, are experiencing a feeling of 'disconnect' that can threaten their independence and quality of life.
